O and Aitachi...

One of the most rewarding things about spending 3 months in Bingen with dad, was to see the flourishing relationship between he and O. When we first arrived, O would cry as soon as he saw dad...maybe it was his beard? Or his voice? Regardless, O was somewhat afraid of him...

Dad began approaching O with more caution I think and within a couple of weeks, O began to delight in Aitachi's presence...He would sit on his lap and eat, he would reach out and touch his beard, he would allow dad to nibble his neck...

By the time we left last week, O and Aitachi were the best of friends...a deep bond had risen and it was palpable to all who watched them. O asks for him everyday, and we look at pictures...although not the same as being together, we all have the memories.

This Is What Happens When It's Too Quiet...
